The Human Resources Department is responsible for administering the City's personnel and civil service system involving recruitment and examination of applicants for employment, employee benefits, labor negotiations, workers' compensation, payroll, employee training, employee relations, civil service administration and equal employment opportunity programs.  Our task is to provide diverse and skilled applicant pools, classification and compensation administration, labor relations, human resources management tools, policies and procedures, and other support to City departments and City legislators.  The mission of the Human Resources Department is to help City departments attract, motivate, retain, manage, and develop qualified and productive employees and to assure that the City has fair and equitable policies and procedures and that all recruitment, hiring, placements, transfers and promotions are made in compliance with all mandated laws including all civil service rules and regulations.
