WEATHER BULLETIN
From the City of Norwich Emergency Management Office:

There is a significant threat of severe weather impacting our area starting this afternoon and continuing into Saturday. A very strong cold front will push through the area later today, ending our balmy weather and bringing the potential for high winds, severe thunderstorms, very heavy rain and the isolated chance of a tornado.

This strong cold front will move through the area after 1 p.m. today. According the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, we are at a “moderate” risk for severe weather, which is very high for this area. The Storm Prediction Center also gives us a 45 percent charge for wind damage, which again is high.

Once the front passes, temperatures will drop significantly and the winds will continue to gust at 40-50 mph, especially on the hilltops. At this present time, a Flash Flood Watch is in effect for later today, a High Wind Warning is in effect through Saturday morning and additional severe storm watches or warnings are possible later this afternoon.
