RFP Reopened to March 15, 2010
The City of Norwich desires to sell the property to a qualified private party demonstrating an ability to establish a viable business enterprise in the building, including the creation of new jobs. Such enterprise may occupy the entire building or only the first floor, with the second floor being devoted to residential use. The rehabilitation of the property will be aided with a $200,000 Restore NY III grant provided by the NYS Empire State Development Corporation and $30,100 through the City of Norwich. The City will select a purchaser on the basis of the criteria stated in the RFP and the proposal's consistency with the City's overall community and economic development goals. The City reserves the right to reject any or all offers. Proposals are due at Norwich City Hall Office of Planning and Community Development no later than 4:00 PM on Monday, March 15, 2010. The City of Norwich has reopened its search for proposals for the purchase and rehabilitation of a City-owned mixed-use commercial property located at 24 East Main Street in the city of Norwich, New York. The subject property contains a vacant, 3,300-square-foot Victorian-era, two-story building, most recently containing a picture frame shop on the fist floor and a residential apartment on the second floor. Situated on a 0.088 acre lot in the city's central business district, the wood-frame structure is considered a contributing element to the Chenango County Courthouse Historic District.
